Why and how to use zinc lozenges for ANY respiratory illness, including Corona.
I can confirm that they don't just work for colds, but of course there are shills who don't want you to use them because they'll hurt big pharma profits.
I’ll start with the standard disclaimer that I’m not a doctor so this is not medical advice or any sort of diagnosis. This is tips on using existing over the counter products that have copious scientific study evidence behind them. It’s up to you to decide what is in your best interest using whatever sources of information you find to be credible.
I found out about using zinc to fight colds somewhere around 40 years ago. Before Prevention magazine went “mainstream” they covered using zinc. It has been known for decades that zinc was effective for immune function, but of course you haven’t heard about that at all from little fascist Fauci.
Prevention magazine focused on natural remedies for quite a while. (I haven’t seen a copy of Prevention many in years so I don’t know what their status is now. A quick glance at their website doesn’t look promising.) Back then you could easily get 10mg zinc in a bottle of 200 or 300 or whatever, and I would take one of those 10mg pills and dissolve it in my mouth whenever I had any sort of sore throat. A nasty bitter taste to be sure, but it helped quite a bit.
Over the years since then Cold-Eeze zinc lozenges have come out, and for a while there was also an oral Zicam small spray bottle with zinc dissolved in water. I used the Zicam spray bottles for a while until they became much more expensive and much harder to find, and then I started going with the Cold-Eeze lozenges. Since Corona, the Cold-Eeze lozenges have become hard to find as well, and Cold-Eeze has come out with a “Defense” version of the lozenges that SUCKS. Don’t use it. Walmart had an Equate version of the original Cold-Eeze that was identical and cheaper for years, but sometime in the past 1 to 2 years the Equate has a new formula that sucks even more than the Cold-Eeze Defense version.
The key to using zinc lozenges, or simply straight vitamin zinc, is to coat the entire inside of your mouth, and thus also the upper part of your throat, with the zinc. The upper part of your throat at the back of your mouth, where the passage from your sinuses comes in, is important. It seems to help to be laying down on your back, but that’s not absolutely necessary. Get to where you can feel that bitterness all over your throat as much as possible, and then leave that bitter taste in place without eating or drinking anything for an hour or more!
Keep the bitter taste in there as long as possible. Tough it out. If you really hate the taste, just consider that it’s like hell in your mouth for the viruses. I’ve been doing this for years for any kind of sore throat feeling, and it is very rare in over 30 years that any sore throat bothers me for more than a matter of hours. In many cases it’s less than 2 hours. Doing it when you go to bed is perhaps the best time, as you won’t be eating or drinking afterward, and that’s also a time when you have less saliva action to flush viruses down into your stomach acid. If you do eat or drink something and lose that bitter taste, dissolve more zinc to recoat your mouth and upper throat ASAP.
If you’re using a Cold-Eeze lozenge, you do NOT need to dissolve the whole lozenge either, and I suggest that you do NOT use one whole lozenge at one time. They’re not cheap and they can tend to upset your stomach in some cases, so just dissolve 1/4 to 1/3 of the lozenge and then put the rest back in the wrapper. In doing some research I found that some idiot on the Mayo Clinic’s website lists upset stomach as a side effect as though it’s a big deal. It has NOT been a big deal in my experience, but avoiding the Cold-Eeze “Defense” version, and only dissolving a small part of a lozenge at one time, minimizes the risk of upset stomach.
If you’ve got straight zinc tablets, such as 50mg, cut a small piece off and dissolve that. Much easier is zinc capsules with zinc powder inside. Pull the two sides of the capsule apart and sprinkle some of the powder in your palm or on a small plate, then lick it or wet your finger and then place your finger on your tongue and then spread it around inside your mouth. Same as with the lozenges, you want that bitter taste coating your throat as much as possible.
Here again the one idiot on the Mayo Clinic website, Pritish K. Tosh, lists that bitter taste as “problems with taste and mouth irritation”, showing that he/she is completely oblivious to the fact that the bitter taste is the key to confirming that the zinc is present where it should be, which is in turn the key to killing respiratory viruses. So you can choose between being sicker and staying sicker longer and hoping that the sickness somehow miraculously doesn’t affect your taste or smell so you get to enjoy full flavor while feeling miserable, or you can use the zinc for a while and sacrifice some taste and maybe smell in exchange for feeling much better. For me there’s no real choice there, I’m going with the zinc.
If you’re thinking “what about the nasal passages?”, you’re on the right track. Many years ago Zicam had a zinc nasal spray product. Unfortunately, ambulance chaser type attorneys seized on claims that it “permanently” destroyed people’s sense of smell, and after so many months of that campaign and the related lawsuits Zicam pulled the product off the market. Good ol’ Pritish K. Tosh at Mayo repeated this claim as part of his/her “warning” against using zinc. Given that the Mayo article is post Corona “vaccine” it’s pretty safe to say Pritish K. Tosh is just another shill getting kickbacks from big pharma to keep people from using very low cost and very effective remedies that eliminate any need for fake “vaccines” or other extremely dangerous drugs like Remdesivir that are raking in billions for big pharma.
Zicam also had nasal swabs with a zinc infused gel and those also went away. Given that I used the zinc nasal spray many times, and the gel swabs, over a period of years and I still have an excellent sense of smell, and given that you lose sense of smell with almost all nasal related illnesses anyway, I suspect that any loss of sense of smell, even if using the zinc nasal spray contributed to the problem, was only temporary. And don’t forget that many people have claimed short term to long term loss of taste and/or smell from just having Corona. I would bet money that the vast majority of zinc usage related taste or smell loss is very temporary, as it has been for me. Just like eating bitter foods will change your taste for a time, and which is why many tasting venues for foods and/or drinks have “palate cleansing” items for use in between different options.
Based on my success with the zinc nasal spray and the zinc lozenges, I have very little doubt that optimized zinc delivery systems for both the sinuses and the throat would result in much shorter and MUCH less severe colds and flus. I haven’t yet come up with a good idea to make my own nasal zinc delivery system, but something that can spray a fine mist of water with dissolved zinc, that would not get clogged up in between uses, would almost certainly work. And of course you’re not going to get such products from Pfizer, for example, because that would hurt their bottom line. The same way that they have forked out tens of millions or more behind the scenes to discredit HCQ and Ivermectin.
I could include dozens of links here showing the scientific evidence that zinc helps with immune function, but that’s a bit much when you can do your own searches. Here’s a couple:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31305906/
In addition to using small amounts of zinc orally and perhaps in your sinuses if you find a good way to do so, you should be supplementing your zinc with 20 to 50mg per day. Most tablets or capsules these days are 50mg. Again, the evidence for zinc’s immune boosting ability dates back to the early 1980s, if not even back into the 1960s. And new studies like the one above show its effectiveness against Corona specifically. So you don’t have to take my word for it at all, you can listen to dozens of experienced and often prominent doctors telling you how critical zinc is.
P.S. Yes, vitamin D is also critical for immune function, and direct sunlight with NO sunscreen* is the best option if you are in the right location. If not, take vitamin D supplements. That’s a topic for another post.
* Just don’t burn, and don’t try to be like “tan mom”.
